Skills and named agents turn repeatable work into something you set up once. A skill is guidance an agent applies when the work fits it. A named agent is a specialist role with its own handle, ready to start or @ mention. Both live on the Capabilities page. Open it from the command palette (press Cmd+K, then choose Skills, Agents, or Apps), or from your org’s navigation. The page has five sections: Skills, Agents, Tools, Apps, and Build.

Create a skill

  1. On Capabilities → Skills, select New skill.
  2. Name it: up to 48 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, like release-notes.
  3. Add a one-line description that says when the skill fits, up to 160 characters. Agents read this to decide whether to apply it.
  4. Choose Organization or Private visibility.
  5. Pick a starting template: Blank, Checklist, Reference guide, or Script runner.
  6. Select Create, then open the skill and write its instructions in the SKILL.md editor. Save when the draft is solid.
The dialog creates the skill as a bundle containing a single SKILL.md. It has no instructions field, so write the operating instructions after creating. Once saved, the skill shows up by name in any composer’s / menu. Use the library filters to review availability: skills carry Organization or Private visibility and an enabled or disabled state. Your own skills live in the library; the skills that ship with Bright appear in the / menu.

Create a named agent

  1. On Capabilities → Agents, select the new-agent action.
  2. Give it a Handle, a short slug you will @ mention, like release-captain.
  3. Write a one-line role (up to 48 characters) that says what it is for.
  4. Write its instructions: how this agent should approach its work.
  5. Select Create. Turn it on or off from the switch on its row.
